Sensex Sinks Over 600 Points, Nifty Below 10,700
Domestic stock markets started Thursday's session on a negative note, with the BSE benchmark Sensex cracking over 600 points as rupee hit another low amid weak global cues and fears of widening current account deficit (CAD) . At 10:18 am, the S&P BSE Sensex was trading 645.02 points, or 1.79 per cent, lower at 35,330.61 while the Nifty 50 was down 175.35 points or 1.61% at 10,682.90. Fears over Reserve Bank of India (RBI) turning aggressive in its monetary policy stance due to a rise in inflationary pressure also led to erosion in investors' risk-taking appetite, analysts said.
